Plastic planet – how plastic affects our lives!

plastik

An extremely lively and important topic recently. If you’re reading the Exprimerete blog, that’s for sure You are not indifferent to the good of the planet, just like us. Imagine a world where a million plastic bottles are bought every minute. A world where the weight of plastic produced annually is greater than the weight of all people inhabiting the earth, and finally a world whose ratings include millions of tons of plastic.

Sounds cruel? We don’t have good news because this is the world we live in.

Avoiding plastic is no easy task these days. Most of the food in supermarkets, toys, clothes and many other items are packed in plastic. What’s more, almost everyone uses single use plastic bags while shopping, without thinking about it, that the plastic bag, which we use only for about an hour, takes 400 years to break down in a landfill!

Unpleasant forecasts

Experts say that this is the last call to come to your senses and start living more consciously. The prognosis is not comforting. Already in 2050 we will find more plastic in the oceans than living beings. What does it mean? Fish poison themselves in the water they still exude in harmful substances are released from plastic and the micro-plastic they swallow ends up in ours as a result organisms when we eat fish meat.

Speaking of plastic in the waters, it is also necessary to mention coral reef diseases that do not cope dealing with the toxicity of plastic. The suffering of animals under water is practical for us imperceptible, while it is a gigantic ecological problem. Fish and other animals seabirds are cut by sharp ends of plastic objects and become entangled in them plastic bags.

Let’s take a look …

If you think that the plastic problem will be limited to marine and oceanic areas, we must disappoint you. Plastic is everywhere – it surrounds you at every step. Floats in the air, it is an inseparable element of cosmetics that we use every day, it is in clothes and everyday objects. Clothes that we buy in chain stores the earliest they have micro-plastic particles, which then end up in the washing machine during each wash sewage.

Light years away

We mentioned that products made of plastic take a very long time to decompose. Life Average in Poland it is about 78 years. Average time to complete degradation of a supermarket carrier bag is 400 years! There are also other pros that can take up to 1000 years to decompose! This scary that the bag you buy today may stay unused longer than yours  great-great-grandchildren will live. Does it scare you?

The future is in our hands!

There is no doubt that plastic is harmful to both our planet and our health. It is now our responsibility to minimize the use of plastic. Current  market and growing awareness makes it easier for us. Choose reusable filter bottles instead of buying dozens of bottles of water, take your own shopping bag, choose unpackaged products

These are not hard choices, but require some commitment from us. Let us remember however, all this is worth the effort!
